Power company shutting down two plants in NC, laying off workers

Capital Power Operations is moving ahead with plans to shut down a power plant near Southport in Brunswick County and also is closing a power plant in Roxboro. According to notices filed with the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the closures are permanent and ake effect March 31. Capital Power announced its intention of closing the Brunswick plant last fall.
