North Carolina identifies first case of COVID-19 variant from South Africa

North Carolina has identified the first case of a variant of COVID-19 that was first detected in South Africa.
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services reported the first identification of the COVID-19 variant B.1.351 in a North Carolina resident.The B.1.351 variant was first detected in South Africa in October and in the United States in January.
