When the history of the pandemic is finally written, one of the most dramatic narratives will regard the decline of large meccas and the simultaneous revitalization of more sparsely-populated areas. The urban exodus has resulted in an accumulation of human and financial capital, flush with talent and dollars, in rural America. The trend will likely spark a renaissance in parts of the nation that were formerly on the decline.
