Program offers free training to eastern NC farms, businesses

Accelerate Rural NC, which focuses on helping small businesses gain access to global markets, is offering a free 10-week training program via Zoom beginning Sep. 1. The program aims to help farmers and other small businesses in 29 Eastern counties set up e-commerce stores. Key components of the program include e-commerce development, export training and development of highvalue offerings for niche markets. Participants receive intensive innovation and entrepreneurship training with mentors, prototyping and new product development assistance, and market plan development. Participants will also learn about web development, e-commerce development and will receive export target market identification assistance. Program director, Dennis Tracz, is also working to identify companies that can sell through Alibaba and Tmall, which are among the largest e-commerce platforms in China.
