According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, food prices continue to rise after a 3.9% increase in 2020 from 2019, a full year into the pandemic. The USDA expects another increase of 2 or 3% for food prices in 2021. One of the reasons is the gas prices that are now eating at everyone’s disposable income. One wholesaler stated that in the last year, they’ve seen a nearly 3,000 dollar increase in freight rates, which equates to about 3 dollars more per package. For more of this story, click here.
