New data shows just how critical the U.S. food and agriculture sector is to the U.S. economy. A new "Feeding the Economy" report, commissioned by 33 food and ag groups, found the food and agriculture sector alone contributes $7 trillion to the nation's economy. The report also shows the agriculture and food sector alone is responsible for one-fifth of the country's economic activity. Along with the financial piece, the report revealed the sector supports 40 million jobs, or 13% of all U.S. employment.
