China’s pork imports jumped to an all-time high in March on supply concerns following a resurgence of ASF in the world’s biggest consumer and producer. Inbound shipments increased 16% from a year earlier to 460,000 metric tons, boosting overall meat imports to a record as well.

China imported 6.727 million metric tons of corn in the first quarter, a year-on-year increase of 438%, which were most from the U.S.

The growth rate of Chinese economy is expected to increase from 7.7% in the previous forecast to 8.1%.

All 31 provinces across China have released their GDP data for the first quarter of 2021. The year-on-year GDP growth rate of all 31 provinces has reached double digits, especially Hubei Province exceeded 50%. Among them, Guangdong Province’s GDP ranked first with RMB2.71 trillion yuan (US$419.24 billion), Jiangsu Province and Shandong Province ranked second and third place.
