the first in-person forest farming workshop for 2021! The event will be held on
Saturday, May 22 at the beautiful Yew Mountain Center in
Hillsboro, WV. The event will take place outdoors where groups of ten people
will rotate from station to station to learn about different forest farming
projects. Forest
Farming Topics will include:
- Overview of the Yew Mountain Center
(YMC) and the Appalachian Beginning Forest Farmer Coalition (ABFFC) with
Will Lewis, YMC and John Munsell, ABFFC
- Site Analysis and Assessment with Robin
Suggs, Appalachian Sustainable Development
- Propagation with Ed Daniels, Shady Grove
Botanicals
- Planting with Tanner Filyaw, Rural
Action
- Value-added Demonstration with Ruby Daniels, Creasy Jane’s
- Syrup and Tapping with Kate Fotos,
Future Generations University
- Mushroom Cultivation with Lacy Davidson
Ferguson and Park Ferguson, Elmcrest Farm
