Recent rains were not enough to ease 'abnormally dry' central NC

We've had some decent rain over the last week or so, but it was not enough to help with the drought across parts of North Carolina. In fact, eastern and southeastern parts of North Carolina are now under a moderate drought. Central North Carolina remains in the "abnormally dry" category. May has delivered some much-needed rain across North Carolina, but when looking at the totals for spring as a whole, we are still behind. In Raleigh, we are behind by more than 4 inches. Fayetteville is behind by more than 2 inches.
