UMO offers summer Institute for FFA students interested in ag careers

The University of Mount Olive (UMO) will host the 2021 NC Tobacco Trust Fund Commission Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) Institute for high school FFA members from July 13-15.  Check in is 8 AM daily and ends at 5 PM, except for the last day, which will end at 6:30 PM.

The three-day SAE Institute is designed to introduce students to the agriculture industry and showcase the diversity of agriculture in North Carolina. Participants can earn up to 25 hours of SAE credit during the event.

To be eligible, a student must be at least 15 years of age by the beginning day of the SAE camp, be an active members of an FFA Chapter, and be enrolled in local agricultural education classes. The online application can be found at https://apply.umo.edu/register/SAE2021.  Students are encouraged to apply by June 18 for the camp which is provided at no cost to the student thanks to a grant from the North Carolina Tobacco Trust Fund Commission.
