Lumber prices keeping local non profits from building as many homes as they would like

Habitat for Humanity has had to scale back on the number of homes they build as the price of lumber is just too high. Construction was supposed to start on a Pamlico County woman’s home this past spring, now she, like many others, is in limbo. “It really hurt,” said Amanda Avery. “At that point, I felt like my dreams were crushed.”
