Gordon Ramsay explores region with Asheville culinary pros on new National Geographic show

 A famously shouty chef recently visited Western North Carolina to learn about Appalachian and Cherokee traditions from foragers, farmers, Native Americans and one local restaurateur.  Gordon Ramsay, perhaps best known to the general public as the acerbic star of "Hell's Kitchen," is more subdued in person, said William Dissen, chef-owner of The Market Place in Asheville. "He's a very kind and very diplomatic man, and very different than what you see on TV shows," Dissen said.
