Cumberland County commissioners, health board oppose menthol as FDA considers ban

As the Federal Drug Administration moves to ban menthol cigarettes, Cumberland County officials continue efforts to reduce their use. The county commissioners and the Board of Health proclaimed May 16 a “No  Menthol Sunday.”  Travis Greer is a tobacco control manager for the Region 6. He said the proclamation aims to help reduce tobacco use in the community. The proclamation also shows the position of the commissioners and the Board of Health on tobacco use and its impact on the African American community, he said.
