Who makes the best hot dog in North Carolina? We tested 11 to find out

North Carolinians can argue about the best chili or whether ketchup belongs anywhere near a hot dog until their faces are as red as the dog itself.  They're all worthy discussions, but it all starts with the hot dog itself, which, if it's from North Carolina, is most likely to be dyed a shade of bright red more reminiscent of Cheerwine than cooked meat. It's not natural, but it's part of the nature of North Carolina.  With so many of our state's hot dogs bearing close resemblance to one another, the proof of the pudding is in the eating, as they say.
