Bill's back to combat trade practices harming Southeast producers

Current law requires petitioners to demonstrate harm as measured from a nationwide and year-round perspective, which precludes the recognition of regional and seasonal fruit and vegetable industries. A bill was recently reintroduced to Congress to amend that law. The Defending Domestic Produce Production Act would acknowledge the unique circumstances of seasonal fruit and vegetable producers, according to a June 16 statement by U.S. Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL).
