Labor language dropped, hog farm language kept as NC farm bill moves forward

Lawmakers in the state House dropped a provision from the state's annual farm bill Wednesday that workers' advocates said would weaken protections. They left in the bill an overhaul in the way methane collection systems are permitted at hog farms, something environmentalists are fighting. Then, they advanced the measure toward the full House, which could vote on it as soon as Thursday.
