Farm bill clears NC Senate, heads to Cooper for signature

The state Senate voted Tuesday to send the state's annual Farm Act to Gov. Roy Cooper, who will have to decide soon whether to sign it into law. Senate Bill 605 tweaks a number of agriculture and forestry policies around the state, with only one section in the final bill raising controversy. That section would let hog farmers install biogas collectors over waste ponds to collect methane without having to get an individual permit from the state.
