In 2019, the NC State University Food Animal Initiative sponsored the 1st International Symposium on Precision Technologies and Data Analytics for Animal Ag. The symposium was well attended and brought together industry, academia, and government agencies to discuss and learn about opportunities for precision technology and “big data” in animal agriculture. Knowing that we have to continually increase efficiency of food production to meet global population demands, precision management of food animal systems will be part of the future.

To follow up that effort, in 2021, the FAI will host the Food Animal Innovation Summit, which brings together three different symposia- the Carolina Feed Industry Fall Conference; the Animal Health and Nutrition Consortium Symposium, and the Precision Animal Systems Symposium.
