From livestock producers to commercial tomato growers to those with a few chickens and goats, farmers took a hit when Tropical Storm Fred set its course on Haywood. Unfortunately, Bethel farmer Skipper Russell is one of many commercial growers who won’t need to worry about finishing his harvest this year. Russell lost all of his tomato, bell pepper and bean crops, as well as two trucks, a tractor and a couple of trailers in flooding on Aug. 17. For more of this story, click here.
