Peanut Tour to be held at the Tidewater Agricultural and Research Extension Center

Participants of the Peanut Tour will engage in maturity checking and hear from various guest speakers on topics such as peanut pest updates, variety updates, and weed control.

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the Virginia Cooperative Extension will host a “VA Peanut Tour” on Sept. 8 at the Tidewater Agricultural Research and Extension Center, located in Suffolk, Virginia.

The event will feature visits to research plots where participants will engage in maturity checking and hear from various guest speakers on topics such as peanut pest updates, variety updates, and weed control.

Guest speakers include:

=        Sally Taylor, an associate professor and Tidewater Agricultural and Research Extension Center entomologist, discussing peanut insect issues

=        David Langston, a professor of plant pathology, discussing diseases

=        David Jordan, a professor and peanut specialist at N.C. State University, discussing weed control

=        Maria Balota, a professor in crop physiology and TAREC peanut specialist, discussing varieties
