House Agriculture Committee Chairman David Scott of Georgia issued the following statement in response to the USDA’s announcement of $700 million in grants to provide relief to farm and food workers impacted by COVID-19 that was included in the FY21 Consolidated Appropriations Act:

“I applaud the USDA's roll out of the $700 million in funding for grants to support the farm and food workers hit hard by COVID-19 and the outreach to our grocery store workers,” said Chairman David Scott. “This funding, made available through the new Farm and Food Workers Relief (FFWR) grant program, is critical and will support these workers with many of the costs associated with ensuring health and safety during the pandemic and beyond.”

“While many of us were staying home, these folks assumed personal risk, going to work to ensure a stable food supply for our nation. The House Agriculture Committee looks forward to continuing to work alongside Secretary Vilsack and the USDA to support farmers, farm workers and other food sector workers,” Chairman David Scott continued.
