Youth Reporter Priyanka Rathnam stands in front of the Massengill family produce stand. A couple of nights a week we eat a dish called “Sabudana Khichdi," from my mother's home state of Maharashtra. My father reaches for food at family dinner. A pot of onions and potatoes on the side, tapiocapearls, sauce, and other foods sit in the middle. “So, first I peel the potatoes," she tells me. "I'm going to bake the potatoes and I'm ready to peel the potatoes, cut them up into small pieces and kind of sauté them in oil till they become crispy”
