Sen. Ben Clark, who represents all of Hoke County and part of Cumberland County in the North Carolina Senate, won't seek re-election next year, he confirmed Monday evening. Clark, a Democrat, told colleagues about his decision during the day. He told WRAL News that 10 years is "probably enough time" in the legislature. He said he'll finish out his current term, but there will be an open seat for someone to fill come the 2022 elections. "I’d been thinking along those lines for a little while, so I thought I’d just go ahead and make it official," Clark said.
