China Office Update

• MOFCOM on September 16th said, China will earnestly implement the important consensus reached by top leaders of China and the U.S. earlier over the phone. The economic and trade teams from the two countries have maintained communications at all times. 
• The U.S. will no longer prohibit foreign visitors from entering China starting in November if they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, said the White House on September 20th. In addition, according to the latest guideline issued by the CDC, vaccines that qualify a traveler as "fully vaccinated" include those listed by the WHO for emergency use; vaccines made by Sinovac and Sinopharm in China. 
• China is expected to beat the minimum target of 6% growth set by the government. Although the latest data from China were weaker than expected, China still can reach 8% growth rate, said Richard Kozul-Wright, UNCTAD's director of the division on globalization and development strategies. Meanwhile, the global economy will bounce back with growth of 5.3% this year, the fastest in nearly 50 years. 
• It's estimated that during the 2021 three-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, there was a total of more than 88 million domestic tourist trips across China, with domestic tourism revenue of$5.74 billion. Due to the 2019 Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, 78.6% of the domestic tourism has been restored.
• China had delivered more than 2.16 billion vaccine doses as of September 15th, and over 1.01 billion people had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in China. Except for Fujian Province, there is an another small-scale outbreak of the epidemic in Heilongjiang Province. According to the National Health Commission, 20 of the new local cases were reported in Fujian Province and the other 8 were reported in Heilongjiang Province. As of September 23rd, there are 2 high-risk areas and 39 medium-risk areas in China.
