SOWS FARROWING North Carolina producers intend to farrow 405,000 sows during the September – November 2021 quarter and the same during the December 2020 – February 2021 quarter. 

PIG CROP The State’s pig crop during the June – August 2021 period totaled 4.6 million head, down 10.6% from the same period last year. 

PIGS PER LITTER Pigs saved per litter averaged at 10.7, compared to 10.5 the same quarter last year. HOGS & PIGS Hogs and pigs on North Carolina on September 1, 2021 totaled 8.3 million head, up 1% from June 1.
