Source: NCSU COOPERATIVE EXTENSION, 12/6/21 Major changes are coming in 2022 for county tobacco meetings. Since
the creation of the US Tobacco GAP Program in 2012, the North Carolina
Cooperative Extension Service has provided GAP training on an annual basis.
This will not be the case in 2022. Growers that are needing to fulfill the
annual training requirement will do so at events hosted by GAP Connections. A
list of North Carolina meetings can be found on the GAP Connections website. This
change means that county meetings will be hosted exclusively by local Extension
Agents and that attendance will NOT satisfy the
mandatory GAP training requirements from contracting companies. A total of 13
county meetings will be hosted by Extension Agents across North Carolina.
Information for those meetings can be found on the Tobacco Growers Portal. We look
forward to hosting these production meetings. As always, please contact your
local Extension agent for more information!
