The Omicron variant of the coronavirus made a splash in headlines just a few weeks ago, and now the previously unknown COVID variant has caused travel restrictions and concern. Scientists are rushing to understand what exactly this new variant has in store for us. Early data has hinted that the variant may cause more breakthrough infections among vaccinated people, but it’s still too early to tell how the vaccines will stand up against the variant.
