Dr. Mandy Cohen, the secretary of the state Department of Health and Human Services who quickly became the public face of North Carolina's response to COVID-19, is stepping down. Her successor, Kody Kinsley, was sworn in as DHHS Secretary on Saturday at noon, just in time for the new year. Kinsley has been serving as DHHS' chief deputy secretary for health.
