USDA has agreed to publicly disclose on its website records related to the treatment of animals in U.S. slaughter plants to settle a lawsuit filed by the Animal Welfare Institute and Farm Sanctuary, which the organizations called a “huge win for transparency and accountability.” Marian Payson, a federal magistrate judge for the US District Court for the Western District of New York, approved the settlement Jan. 3.
