Home to 21% of the world’s population, China possesses only 7% of productive farmland. As such, shifts in the composition have effects that ripple across the globe.  In 2020, China’s population hit 1.41 billion, with an average annual growth rate of 0.053% since 2010 (the lowest 10-year growth rate since its first population census in 1953).
