Barbara Board, PhD, has returned to our Extension at N.C. A&T family as the Interim Associate Dean and Extension Administrator, effective Wednesday, January 12. Dr. Board previously spent five years at Extension at A&T as the Interim Associate Administrator and Regional Coordinator. In this role she provided administrative and human resource leadership to programs and operations for North Carolina’s eastern region and gained hands-on experience and familiarity with North Carolina Cooperative Extension programs and the communities we serve across the state.

Most recently, Dr. Board has served as Administrator of the Virginia Cooperative Extension and 4-H Resource and Partnership Enhancement unit. In this role, she analyzed and provided recommendations for existing and needed structures that support strategic priorities for 4-H program and Cooperative Extension resource development. She also provided collaborative leadership for member development and group operations.

Dr. Board brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her new role, thanks to her long career as an Extension educator who has held progressive leadership roles with Cooperative Extension in both Virginia and North Carolina. She is an experienced program and administrative leader for Extension programs at the local, district, and state levels. Dean Mohamed Ahmedna, describes her as “a proven action-oriented leader and a champion for purposeful program development.”
