Dr. William Henry “Bill” Davis of Ronda, chairman of the Wilkes Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors, was inducted into the N.C. Association of Soil & Water Conservation Districts Hall of Fame on Jan. 11 during the association’s 78th annual meeting in Durham. Davis was recognized for establishing and securing funding for the N.C. Foundation for Soil and Water Conservation, which raises money for soil and water conservation initiatives and works to increase awareness of the importance of these resources. It also funds a scholarship program for people considering careers in the conservation field.
