House Agriculture Chairman David Scott delivered
the following statement after today's Farm Bill Hearing on Renewable Energy
Opportunities in Rural America: “I would like to thank both panels of witnesses for their testimony today and their input on these important farm bill programs. Under Secretary Xochitl Torres Small provided important updates on USDA’s efforts to implement 2018 Farm Bill programs and resources necessary for USDA to partner with rural communities and invest in resilient and efficient energy infrastructure,” said
Chairman David Scott.
“Our stakeholder panel gave some additional perspective on how farm bill programs can help rural communities transition to renewable energy in a way that makes economic sense for their communities,” “I am
confident that as we look to the 2023 Farm Bill, energy and particularly
renewable energy will be integral in our efforts to mitigate climate change
while bringing new opportunities and revenue streams to rural America,” Chairman
David Scott added. Video of Chairman Scott’s opening statement can be found here. Photos for use from this hearing can be found here.
