War in Ukraine could impact local farming (NC)

Its growing season and I’m picking kale and arugula for salads, stir fry and smoothies. I stare at peach, pear and blueberry blossoms imagining future pies, jams and compote. But I also know that the days have long past where farming was about what we grew in our gardens. Much of our food comes from thousands of miles away. But even the food grown in our very county is still dependent on the global economy in more ways than one. Surprisingly, the war in Ukraine could have a profound impact on local farming.
