US cabinet secretaries focus on avian flu response, water infrastructure during NC visit

The nation’s top agricultural official told a roundtable of North Carolina farmers and industry officials Monday that the nation is more prepared to handle a fast-moving avian flu now than it was in 2015. U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, who was serving in the same role during the 2015 outbreak, said this year’s response includes “quicker detection, quicker quarantine, better biosecurity, more testing and (faster) disposal.”
