North Carolina April Farm Report

COTTON growers intend to plant 435,000 acres in 2022, up 16% from last year. 

SOYBEAN plantings, expected to total 1,800 acres in 2022, up 9% from 2021.

WINTER WHEAT plantings totaled 520,000 acres, up 16% from last year.

SOWS FARROWING North Carolina producers intend to farrow 410,000 sows during the March– May 2022 quarter and 415,000 sows during the June–August 2022 quarter. 

PIG CROP The State’s pig crop during the December 2021 – February 2022 period totaled 4.25 million head, down 4% from the same period last year. 

PIGS PER LITTER The number of pigs saved per litter averaged 10.5 unchanged from the same quarter last year.
