Farmers worry DOT's plan for Green Road could make flood problems worse

 Farmers around Transylvania County's Green Road are worried about hundreds of acres they think could be devastated by floods if an NCDOT road elevation project happens. The North Carolina Department of Transportation's road service improvement project calls for elevating a 145-foot stretch of Green Road by about 5 feet near the French Broad River. The intent is to raise the road above the floodplain so emergency vehicles could get to residents during flooding.
