Hiring a new livestock agent and helping farmers develop business plans are among the most pressing goals Haywood County’s new extension director is tackling in her first weeks in office. Waynesville native Sally Dixon took the helm of the extension center May 2, and within the week was ready to talk nonstop about her goals and ambitions for the staff and the people they serve. She was hired to replace Bill Skelton, who retired Jan. 1 after 20 years in the position.
