House Agriculture Chairman David Scott released the following statement on the initiation of the second USMCA dispute on Canadian dairy tariff-rate quota policies.

“American dairy farmers have long faced Canada’s protectionist trade policies and unfortunately, Canada’s failure to comply with USMCA perpetuates that trend. USMCA contained important measures to level the playing field for our dairy industry, and I’m disappointed at Canada’s repeated violations,” said Chairman David Scott.

“I commend the Biden-Harris Administration’s latest action to hold Canada accountable to its commitments, and Ambassador Katherine Tai and Secretary Tom Vilsack have my full support. I encourage them to work through this dispute process expeditiously and remain vigilant so that U.S. dairy producers can realize the access they were promised.”
