House Agriculture Committee Chairman David Scott delivered the following statement after today's hearing titled “A 2022 Review of the Farm Bill: Dairy Provisions.”

“Dairy farmers are incredibly hard workers who have faced many challenging years recently. While the creation of the Dairy Margin Coverage program in the last farm bill has provided beneficial improvements, we must continue to ensure our dairy industry has a safety net that works,” said Chairman David Scott.

“Changing consumer preferences, labor shortages, and the perishability of dairy products are just a few of the challenges our dairy farmers face. Although we might not be able to address all of these challenges directly through farm bill policies, we must continue to have conversations like the one we had today,” Chairman David Scott continued. “Continuing these discussions, including giving further consideration to competition, market access, and fair prices, will help us ensure that we are capitalizing on the opportunities we have available to us in the farm bill to safeguard the future of the dairy industry.”
