(NC) House Republicans pass bill requiring local cooperation with federal immigration officers

Republican lawmakers again advanced legislation Thursday to force sheriffs and other local law enforcement to cooperate with federal immigration officials, something that has become an issue in a number of North Carolina counties in recent years. Senate Bill 101 would require law enforcement to hold people in jail up to 48 hours if U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement requests it.
