The North Carolina Tree Farm Association – in collaboration with NC State Forestry Department – is hosting a lunch and learn seminar at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31 on landowner liability. Robert Andrew Branan, Assistant Extension Professor with Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics (and host of this site) will present the legal status and updates on North Carolina common law regarding landowner liability for injuries to trespassers and others. He will also cover other issues such as boundary marking, hunting permissions, easements and gating, and timber theft laws.
