The N.C. Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation (ADFP) Trust Fund recently awarded $9.5 million to purchase permanent conservation easements on 4,377 acres of farmland. The conservation easements permanently limit use of the property to farming, horticulture or timber production. None of the newly-announced conservation easement purchases were in Wilkes County but Wilkes landowners stand a better chance of being approved for this funding... For more of this story, click here.
