USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued Directive 9500.5, Laboratory Sampling Program for Imported Meat and Poultry Products.

Key points covered in the directive include how import inspection personnel are to collect, prepare and submit samples for laboratory analyses and how import inspection personnel are to interpret laboratory results and take appropriate action.

This directive cancels FSIS Directive 9770.2, Submission of Import Samples for Residue Analysis, dated June 5, 1991.
