A state audit found House of Raeford Farms followed regulations for filing workers' initial injury reports and minor medical claims at its Greenville and West Columbia, S.C., poultry plants, according to published reports.

The review by the South Carolina Workers' Compensation Commission found proper documentation and no irregularities.

The state commission began its review last year following a federal investigation that led to indictments against House of Raeford's Columbia Farms subsidiary and two managers for knowingly hiring illegal immigrants.
The state found nothing to warrant opening an extended investigation and is seeking no further information from the company, commission ombudsman Jennifer Neese told The Greenville News.

"They met the filing requirements in terms of reporting the minor medical-only claims and in terms of filing the first reports of injury with their (insurance) carrier and their carrier providing the proper documents to the Workers' Compensation Commission," the newspaper quoted Neese as saying.

A House of Raeford spokeswoman could not be reached for comment by Meatingplace.
