State Farmers Market to host Apple Day Thursday, Sept. 24

WHAT: North Carolina apples will be highlighted during the State Farmers Market’s annual celebration of the fall fruit. A variety of locally grown apples and apple products will be available throughout the day in the Farmers Building and Market Shoppes. Visitors will also be able to sample homemade apple desserts provided by the State Farmers Market Restaurant, pick up apple-inspired recipes and test their knowledge with apple facts.

 

WHEN:  Thursday, Sept. 24, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

 

WHERE:  Farmers Building and Market Shoppes, State Farmers Market, 1201 Agriculture St.
Interstate 40, exit 297, Lake Wheeler Road

 

MORE INFO:   The four major varieties that make up the bulk of North Carolina's apple production are Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Rome and Stayman, but more than 40 other varieties are grown on a limited basis.
