H1N1 influenza has been detected for the first time in a U.S. commercial hog herd, USDA said Monday.

The agency said the sick herd was discovered in Indiana, but both the pigs and caretakers have fully recovered, according to a report by Reuters. The slaughterhouse involved in the incident has continued regular processing operations, the report said.

A USDA spokesperson reportedly declined to release the city, name of the facility or the size of the herd in question "in order to ensure continued high levels of participation in swine surveillance efforts, and because this is not a food safety or public health risk."

Last month, USDA confirmed a finding of H1N1 in Minnesota show pigs.
