Interested in finding out how to restore streamside vegetation? University of Georgia Cooperative Extension has a workshop for you.

The one-day webinar “vegetation for restoring riparian ecosystems and treating storm water” will be held Feb. 10, 2010 from 1 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. Registrants can participate online or in person in Athens, Ga., at Miller Learning Center room 348.

The workshop is offered by members of the Southern Regional Water Program Watershed Education and Restoration Team. Presenters include Eve Brantley from Auburn University and Karen Hall and Mitch Woodward of North Carolina State University.

Participants will learn how to plan and implement projects using native plants along stream sides, wetlands and floodplains. They will also learn about storm water practices. A companion Web site will provide resources on streamside vegetation and storm water management.

Registration is free for those participating online. Instructions and log-in information for the webinar will be provided upon registration. The Athens workshop is $25.
