Poultry groups offer combined safety guidelines

The National Chicken Council and National Turkey Federation are offering voluntary guidelines to help the poultry industry reduce injuries caused by machine hazards in the workplace.

The guidelines and supporting checklists address safety considerations to be made before purchasing, installing and starting up new equipment. They also offer guidance on conducting audits after new equipment has been operating for a short time to ensure safety issues have been properly evaluated.

The NCC and NTF said they are making the materials available through an alliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The guidelines and checklists were developed by the Joint Poultry Industry Safety and Health Council. Click here for more details.
