Some in the poultry industry believe this is a new era of environmental enforcement, and so the 2010 Environmental Management Seminar — sponsored by the Poultry & Egg Institute of the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association — will take a closer look at this trend.

In a news release about the seminar, the organization promises a program that will examine an anticipated higher level of EPA regulations, along with the latest ideas on environmental sustainability.

"Protecting the environment is a top priority in the poultry industry," said program committee chairperson Brenda Flick of Sanderson Farms, in a news release about the seminar. "Our mission as good environmental stewards is to confront the challenges that impact environmental management and take advantage of new technology and the latest management techniques."

The program will include a "Federal Policy and Regulatory Update"; "Wastewater Optimization and Cost Savings: A Case Study"; "Chesapeake Bay: The Poultry Industry Impact"; and "Clean Water Award Winner Plant Tours"; among other important topics, the release said.

This year's conference will be held March 17-18 at the Marriott Hotel in New Orleans. To register, click here
